Anxiety and Relaxation Strategies

Injury, illness or a hospital stay can affect emotional wellbeing as much as physical health. I offer support with anxiety and relaxation strategies as part of your rehabilitation, helping you feel calmer and more able to engage with your recovery.
How Can I Help
- Support recognising and managing anxiety, low mood or fear of falling
- Simple relaxation and breathing techniques to help manage anxiety and breathlessness
- Strategies to help rebuild confidence after a fall, injury or hospital stay
- Guidance on pacing and managing worry around activity and movement
What To Expect
Following your initial assessment, we will talk through how you have been feeling as well as your physical goals and agree on simple, practical strategies to help you feel calmer and more confident as part of your rehabilitation. This is not a replacement for counselling or psychological therapy, and I will always suggest a referral to your GP or another appropriate professional if I feel further support would help.
At the end of any follow-up session there is an option to spend the last 10 minutes relaxing with a hand massage combined with breathing exercises, listening to relaxing music or listening to a guided walk, e.g., in a forest.
Additional Support
I am also happy to share relaxation techniques with family members or carers so they can support you between sessions.
